Veterinary Technician Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation in Kendalia, Texas The Vet Tech is a member of the management team and is responsible for tending to the medical needs of a wide variety of species of native and non-native wildlife and is expected to perform most medical procedures and minor surgeries, recognize and treat common illnesses and injuries and dispense appropriate medications. Qualified candidates will possess 2-3 years experience working with wildlife as a Vet Tech, a solid knowledge of allopathic and homeopathic remedies, excellent organizational and time-management skills and the ability to work long hours in all types of outdoor conditions and handle a demanding work load. Rabies pre-exposure vaccinations are required. Established in 1977, Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation receives nearly 6,000 wild animals per year for rehabilitation and release as well as providing permanent sanctuary for 600 resident non-releasable indigenous wildlife, exotic wildlife (large mammals, primates, reptiles and birds) and farm animals. Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation is located on 187 acres in beautiful Texas Hill Country, near Austin and San Antonio . Starting salary is $24,000 commensurate with experience.
