Veterinary Medical Technologist II

General Description:
Supports all major areas of operation of the Veterinary Services Department with an emphasis on animal health related duties, but also including microbiology and water quality.

Requirements:
Medical Technologist [MT(ASCP)], BS or BA in biology,  chemistry or related field preferred.  Will consider certified VT, AHT or equivalent with appropriate experience. Two years in a clinical laboratory, zoo, hatchery or public aquarium required, three years are preferred.  A combination of animal husbandry skills with clinical laboratory training acceptable. Strong background in aquatic animal husbandry including water quality and fish health management required.  Data management experience required.  Familiarity with Microsoft Office 2000 or equivalent, including spreadsheet and database management.  Experience with ARKS/MedARKS helpful.  Strong interpersonal skills needed.  Ability to work within a team management structure is essential. May be required to work unusual hours or on unscheduled days during emergency type circumstances.  Should be able to lift 50 pounds.
