Veterinary Technician

The Veterinary Technician will perform diagnostic testing, order laboratory supplies and maintain laboratory machines and equipment. The Veterinary Technician will perform laboratory work on hospital and research samples, including fecal analysis, urinalysis, hematology, chemistries and microbiology; organize parasitology control program, including the preparation and reading of diagnostic samples; Other duties include but are not limited to: operating clinical chemistry equipment, including quality control and maintenance procedures, preparing and disbursing specimens for out of hospital tests; inventory lab supplies, order supplies as needed and purge outdated supplies. The successful candidate for this position will be detail oriented, as they will be responsible for maintaining records, inventory and maintenance of log on serum bank; preparation of compounded medications as directed by veterinary staff and entering date into MedARKS system; delivering water samples to lab from aquatic animal pools for analysis per the Marine Mammal Act and maintaining required logs, researching and obtaining bids on replacement laboratory equipment. The Veterinary Technician will also train new staff, veterinary technician students and volunteers as needed. Minimum Qualifications: One year of laboratory experience Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software and a valid driver’s license Contact: Terri C.
