Roger Williams Park Zoo is accepting applications for the position of Associate Veterinary Technician. The candidate will join two veterinarians and one certified veterinary technician. The zoo is in the process of building a new, 6500 sq. ft. hospital. Duties include but are not limited to: assisting the veterinary staff in anesthesia, surgery and the medical care of animals in our collection, performing routine diagnostic testing (including blood work, fecal examination, etc), preparation of prescriptions, providing general husbandry to animals in quarantine, maintenance and cleaning of hospital areas and equipment and providing medical are to hospitalized animals. The successful applicant will also assist with the maintenance of paper and computerized records (ARKS and MedARKS) and should be proficient in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with USDA and AZA guidelines desired. Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays required. Candidates MUST possess a degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology program and one year zoo (or equivalent) experience. Competitive salary and excellent benefits package.
